Default Maeda Ten

Name:Maeda Ten
Age:16
Sex: Female
Height: 5' 6"

Character Type:Shinobi

Country/Village: Amegakure
Rank: Chuunin
Division:N/A

Physical Description:Dull brown eyes will stare back at you as you look upon Ten, she seems a little less vibrant overall for someone of her age and gives off a little bit of a rebellious look. She has cut her hair into layers with the longest overall hairs coming only to the top of the eyebrow ridge, sometimes a few outliers of hair might end up past and closer to her eye. She has beautiful pale skin with an impeccable complexion. She is free of any types of blemishes that would be common place for a woman her age.

Her face is composed of hollow cheeks and a small pointy nose that rides close to her skinny somewhat scarred lips. Due to a nervous habit she bits her lips and at numerous occurrences forced them to bleed. Her chin rounds off her face and is not very definitive and has a round shape to it. Out of the entire features on her face, her eyes get the most attention. Hazel in color they seem to hide some grey when looking at them at a certain angle and will actually change more into a greyish color depending on the season. The fall seems to bring them out the most.

Her body is slim and muscular. She isn’t overgrown with large muscles but her arms and shoulders are wider than the average and are well defined courtesy of her practice with bother her swords. She has very slim and muscular legs that show off the perfect insertions of the muscle and you could practically use them for an anatomy project and demonstration without actually having to dissect her. She is supported by a strong core that is hidden under a small wall of fat.

Clothing: Ten is commonly seen wearing a loose black sweatshirt about two sizes too big. She also enjoys wearing pants that can stretch and give a lot of air to her body. She is rarely seen wearing tight clothing due to the fact she doesn’t like the feeling of being constricted. She almost always prefers the feeling of barely being able to feel her clothing. She enjoys the feeling that they are there but she much rather have as much space as possible to move around in it. She has a couple of color deviations to the clothing like grey, brown, and green but is commonly darker in color. She enjoys just wearing this but on missions she will don a tannish grey trench coat. The coat is nearly as large as she is but is surprisingly light considering its size and amount of fabric. It has about ten different pockets, each lined on a different part of the coat.

Her two tanto's are hooked on her back by a improtu type of backpack. The straps wrap around her chest going over her shoulders, crossing her chest and upper abdominal area, and then coming back towards her back in a loop design. On her back are two holsters that are at a 45 degree angle to give the best support. A neat little trick to her straps is that when she wears her trench coat she can switch the angle and make it so the swords come out forward of her which forces them to poke out of the coat.

She wears blackish green combat boots that ride all the way up to her shins and provide heavy protection from the watery swamps and sewers. To give even more protection she wears knee high socks made of heavy wool.

Personality:Ten has a firecracker for a personality. She is calm at some points but slowly she will start to light up and become more vibrant or hostile depending on the situation. She starts out very dull and lacks what seem to be the social cognitive skills of a normal teen her age. However, once a few moments pass she becomes full of life and will begin to talk or gets more annoyed. She can sometimes stay reclusive and not want to participate in any type of social interaction but most times she will warm up to the situation and participate. She will also become a loud mouth and opinion filled person that will not cease till her point has gotten across. However, due to her lack of control still it can result in a small loss of control of her karamushi which puts her in an embarrassed state of mind.

She is aware that it is looked down upon if a Maeda cant control her worms and she truly keeps a conscious effort to refrain from losing her head. There have been incidents that during missions she will outright go head first into a brawl and come out with a few cuts and bruises and other times where she will stay back and wait for the right moment. She truly has a vibrant personality that is always interchangeable and is constantly on check.

Meeting new friends is something that is very hard for her and often times will never tell newer individuals she is a Maeda and will sometimes use her foster parents last name. She is also hesitant to use her karamushi in front of newer people and will always attempt to use it as a last resort. However, with other Maeda she will use them as she seems fit. Still considerably stubborn of the karamushi infection she still enjoys their presence and appreciates their utility. Her swords are always her first go to when combat is involved.

When on a mission she gives it the utmost priority and has had some occasions of obsession to make sure it is perfectly done and when faced against the Rain Military she has no problem slicing their necks at a moment’s notice. She also tends to use her karamushi more often when Military personal are involved because of the strains they can inflict.

Biography:
The sound of wiggling filled her ears and he skin began to crawl as the night terrors continued to run wild on her slumbering mind and body. Ten was used to these night terrors ever since she had turned twelve. Her teen years were right at the threshold and she had no idea what it would bring. The sight of +large bloodied worms squirming throughout her home had made her nearly throw up upon waking. Their white slimy bodies stuck to the walls nearly taking up all recognition that there was even a wall there in the first place. Slowly the dream would get darker and the worms would get larger. Each one eating the other until there was only one left. A massive worm; its teeth serrated and long begin to squirm towards Ten. Finally, it opens its mouth to a gaping smile and states

”Don’t be afraid my dear. You are me and I am you.”

Ten’s screams echoed throughout the home and her parents rushed into the small moonlit bedroom. It was a common occurrence and the mom and dad of Ten were used to the wakeup call. However, this would be the last time that Ten would feel the warm embrace of their hugs. She never really embraced the fact that she had worms crawling inside her and she wasn’t the type of person to rely on them as much as the other members in her clan. She knew that the karamushi weren’t intelligent and just propelled on living through basic needs but the dreams were just a horrible reminder of them and did not help the situation. It was a long day for Ten as she continued to work on her swordsmanship and the chipping of the wood made it even more duller. Suddenly, as if on cue with the sword getting stuck in the piece of wood a man appeared. He was dressed in a long white doctors coat, large black rimmed glasses, and a slick back clean haircut topped him off. He spoke in a monotone but threatening voice.

”Maeda Ten, you must come with me. There has been an accident.” The man stated with a stern voice. The man stepped forward and grabbed Ten and they were off.

It was not her home that they had arrived to but instead a white stained room. A single table with two chairs composed of the décor and a small blacked out window could be seen lining one of the walls. Ten took her seat at one of the bolted down chairs and placed her hands on the cold and reflective steel table. So cold was the touch that she winced and took her hands aback before setting them back down.

Ten sat there and sat there; not aware of anything that was about to happen. Her mind began to race with the thoughts of her parents and what was really the reasoning behind her holding. It must have felt like hours to the young genin but it was really only about thirty minutes. Each minute clicking in her head as she stared at the door and then back at the window, only to look back at her hands. Finally, the door began to open and a familiar man entered. Maeda Shuuya was an older man in regards to the Maeda lifecycle; his grey hair proof of that.

”Shuuya Sir, what is happening here?” Ten stated with a worried look in her eyes. Her voice began to rise a little bit at the sight of the clan leader.

”When was the last time you saw your parents Ten?” Shuuya stated as he sat down across the table at the young Maeda. He rested his hands on the cold steel and as if void of feeling continued to stare without wincing at the colder temperature.

A pit started to grow in Ten as she began to wonder what this was all about. Ten had just seen her parents this morning after breakfast and right before she went out training. There was no way that she knew where they would be at this moment except that they were on clan grounds.

”This morning Sir, I ate breakfast with them and then I went to train. I would like to add I think I have full control over my karamushi at this point. I think that I am ready to head off outside the grounds. Maybe I can see the other Sectors?” Ten stated trying to avoid the question as a whole, worried of what the answers might bring.

”Your parents are wanted for the murder of a nurse in the hospital on clan grounds. He was a colleague of his and they were all last seen together before the discovery of his body. Now we wouldn’t automatically assume they were at fault with this but they just happened to have gone missing as well. We need to know where your parents are Ten.” Shuuya stated with a very clear and stern voice. It was no longer child’s play and he was aware of the severity.

Stunned by everything that was happening Ten just froze and thoughts of never seeing her parents again rushed into her head. She was worried that they would be found and killed themselves, or tortured, or something even worse. She didn’t know what to say and only sat there before being addressed to again.

”We are going to have you help us find your parents Ten, we need not an outbreak happen on top of this murder. If you weren’t aware the public PR isn’t at an all-time high; plus all of the things that are happening with the village. We can’t let Lord Yondaime Amekage Ishimaru think that the clan cant handle their members.” Shuuya stated as he stood up from the table.

The older man let Ten go and they headed off to Ten’s home. When they arrived numerous Maeda clansmen that she had recognized were treading about the house looking for any clues as to where her parents could be. As soon as Shuuya had arrived another man positioned himself to get his attention.

”We found this sir, a note that had the location of a small abandoned outpost above ground.” The man stated as he looked down at Ten and quickly looked back at Shuuya.

Dismissing the man Shuuya motioned Ten to follow him. Were they would arrive is a small building, no wider than twenty square feet. It housed a table and a few chairs. Two of the four being occupied by Ten and Shuuya. The silence of the two was broken as two men, one large and one skinny entered the room. Their presence was obviously overbearing to Ten and their body language suggested power.

”Ten , would you please leave us to our conversation?” Shuuya ordered Ten to leave the building. Both men stared at her as she left the house.

Ten couldn’t really hear anything from her perspective but she was sure it was no good. As she waited outside something caught her eye. It was her mother and father; they were waving from a distance with only their faces being recognizable behind the foliage and rustic metal lying around. Just as Ten began walking towards her parents a familiar voice beckoned her again.

”Where you going?” Shuuya stated a little puzzled but very curious.

”Nothing.”

Unaware to Ten the Village had given permission to Shuuya to clean up his mess while giving them two agents from the village. Those two agents were the ones that met with Shuuya in the shack and would be the leads on the retrieval of Ten's parents. A few days had passed and despite given her freedom back it was obvious she was being watched. She would continue to train more and more and in fact was given a mission to retrieve a few caches of supplies from an abandoned outpost of the rain military. Successfully returning from his mission would normally be a good thing but her success was overshadowed by the failure of the two man cell that was assigned to find her parents. Only one returning back, barely alive or mental stable he continued to speak of hooded figure and some type of cult that was in the underground. Ten was obviously kept out of the loop but rumors began to follow and Ten was beginning to become an outcast to some of the other Maeda clansmen.

Her parents were respected and loved doctors around the grounds and now it seemed like Ten would become a hermit. Years passed and Ten became stronger and stronger. He will and strives to not follow in the stigma of her parents name had kept her busy. She always searched for the next mission that she could attempt. Any opportunity to go out and search for her parents was a plus. Not only did she use these missions to give herself a good name they were a great façade for searching for her parents. Each opportunity she got she would stray from the path. Three years and still nothing; her parents had become a rumor at this point and not spoken about anymore.

Then the disappearance of Tanomoshi Ishimaru death had gripped the village into a turmoil state of confusion, fear and anger. What fueled all these emotions was the coronation of his daughter Ayame as the next Amekage. She was a young and powerful shinobi that gave Ten a great role model and someone to look up to. Ten was all for the new Godaime Amekage but she was among a split village.

With Ayame at the helm the Village began to become more aggressive against the outside forces of the military. Each opportunity to kill or pillage the military had given Ten another chance to search and with that she continued her binge of missions. Each one not only making her stronger but it also peaked her curiosity. She was a renowned genin of the village in her own right but because of her lack of spotlight as a Maeda her skills were overshadowed by the renowned “Team Seven”; a group of genin that could kick anyone’s ass.

Ten was aggravated and insulted that she was not given a chance to attend the chuunin exams with the Team Seven. She had earned her spot as a strong genin not only by her clan mates but the village as a whole. Stories of a young Maeda that took the most reckless of missions despite her age began to bellow out and around the offices of the shinobi and common folk. However, with everything that had been going on with a recent outbreak and the assembling of Amanjou Ten would fall under the radar.

Ten took up this chance to go on a rampage to attack the military. A couple of other genin Maeda had the same demeanor that their karamushi were a stigma and that they would let their anger go out on the military. Soon enough the group of four Maeda genin would be known as the “Worm Squad”. However, as the year passed only two of the four earliest members remained. Despite their skill, they lacked the power to overcome groves of militants. Soon enough only Ten survived. Her final mission with the squad would leave her a chuunin however.

Lead by a seasoned Maeda Jounin, Ten and her partner Ren were assigned to go examine a strange death of militants that was reminiscent of a karamushi infection. As the three arrived at the scene it was obvious that some type of Maeda was at fault for the deaths of the three military men that were now being eaten alive by worms. Unable to distinguish their facial features they figured they would just bring samples of the karamushi that still resided in the carcasses. As they were beginning to head out Ren let out a burst of screams. Impaled by a chitin weapon the young Maeda fell to the ground. Blood riddled with the karamushi washed over the ground. Small grains of white dotting the red blood as it splashed over the green grass.

A man came out from the shadows, his face recognizable by both the Jounin and Ten. It was Ten’s father. Chitin armor littered his body. He had a crown of horns, his arms were littered in small spikes and his back had a tail with a stinger attached to it.

”Ten, baby girl. It’s your dad; it is finally time for you to follow us.” The father stated as his lips began to curl into a smile.

For some reason Ten hesitated and felt that the man in front of him was a monster in sheep’s clothing. The man that Ten knew as his father would not just kill a fellow Maeda. This was a different man. Without hesitation the Jounin started to fight with the father. Their armor clinging and falling off, being reproduced as quickly as it was detached. Ten just stood there and watched the fight. She was unable to do anything. Her whole teen life was dedicated to finding her parents and here was her ”father”.

Soon enough the Jounin became overpowered and was thrown against a tree about five feet from where Ten was standing. Slow to get up the Jounin crashed back onto her back. Ten’s father slowly walked over with her tail in prep to impale the fellow Maeda.

”Now Ten, you will come and be with us.” The father stated as he walked past Ten and headed to impale the Jounin. However, the attack would be fruitless as a blade impaled the father. The blade belonged to Ten.

Turning around the father began to smile with blood trickling down his face. He spoke in soft words.

”Mother is going to be disappointed” He stated as he fell facedown into the grass.

Getting up from his prone state the Jounin complimented the strength it took to stab your own father but she was reassured with it being the right thing. Ten knew that it wasn’t her father anymore. With the karamushi and the father in tow the two left for the Village. Given a strange urge to look back Ten noticed a womanly figure hidden in the foliage, her smile the only thing truly recognizable.

Returning back to the Godaime Ayame Ten was recommended to be promoted as a chuunin. Her work in the countless missions as well as the capture and killing of a rogue shinobi had given her enough stature to be given the prestigious title in the eyes of Ayame. Excited yet upset about the promotion she headed home to the clan grounds.

Ten sat in the communal part of the grounds and as she stared at the flickering fire a hand landed on her shoulder.

”You did good Ten, you did good.” Shuuya stated as they both stared into the fire together.

Why would you spend 2 points to make a tanto extend to twice it's length (which is still like nothing) when you could just buy something like a medium blade (2 points) with the morph modifier (1 points) to turn it into a blade of any smaller length? I mean shoot, I don't want to get all minmaxy, but you're paying 6 points for two small knives that can become slightly less small. Not the best efficiency there, but if that's what you like then that's cool.

I like the more subtle way you worked in the whole auto-immune thing. Wasn't there a House episode kind of like that?

Might wanna delete that extra She.

I'll throw my normal Half-Approval on along with a Maeda GM approval since everything clan-related and stat related checks out.

There are quite a few things about this bio that don't sit well with me. For one...I'm not the Maeda GM...but I'm pretty sure anyone born to the Maeda clan would be kept with the Maeda's.

The clan itself has a history of infection and outbreak...if your character was born with that clan, there's no telling when another outbreak can happen and the Maeda compound is made to help contain. Especially with someone that didn't know they were one and wouldn't know what to do if her worms went out of control.

Another thing is one mission does not a Chuunin make. Sure it was a good mission, sure she could have done something great and the logistics of the mission are quite unlikely but that's a mute point.

This bio is long but it contains very little about Rain itself or how your character reacts to the few happenings in Rain.

I'd like to see more about the village, more than one mission for a promotion and something a bit more logical as far as living concerns as parents withholding information about Ten being a Maeda even after numerous dreams as she had seems a bit unlikely.

I would be a bit wary of using Shuuya too liberally later on- he is kind of the de facto leader of the Maeda and while I don't have any issue with what you wrote here (since I didn't exactly give him a terrible amount of characterization in the first place) it'd probably be best to let me know if you're going to NPC him in any threads. You got the general gist of right though (in that the he, and by extension the Maeda, are very PR conscious) so you don't really need to change anything in the bio.

For anyone whose curious, Cayuga and I discussed this bio at length already so the ambiguous fate of Ten's parents is on purpose, not just an oversight. I mean hey, at least the parents aren't just dead, right? I think the Rain info stuff is fine but that'll really be up to Kana again.

Half Approved along with the GM approval.
