Default Konohagakure: Notice Board

Welcome to the new Leaf notice board!

We’re starting from a fairly clean slate, here. Please take a look at the stickied threads in the Hidden Leaf Village Forum, as they’ll keep you up to date on what’s going on and things to do. Everyone should have stuff to do, whether it’s a fancy new mission or recovery from our latest arc (I’m looking at you, ANBU!).

I’m going to take some time to sort things out, keep making edits and updates to village info, and I’ll let you know if and how anything changes. Please be patient, as all of these missions, assignments, and changes are free-flowing from my brain at the moment. It’ll take me some time to work out the kinks.

The biggest change as far as roleplayers are concerned will likely be the new Survival Challenge. There are a ton of chuunin in Leaf and it’s about time they do some work! It’s an opportunity for all ranks, of course, but you folks with chuunin should take a moment to read over the guidelines. You may find it interesting.

Anyway, from here on out I’m hoping to keep communication open between Leaf GM and roleplayers. Please feel free to make your thoughts known.

For now, I’m off to stir up more trouble for you. Yay!

Your first announcement… I’d like to see more genin. Until further notice, if you register a genin in Leaf, please feel free to take 2 GMAP at creation to use as you will. Moar jutsu? Moar stats? Moar weapons? It’s your call. Now’s your chance to make a genin that isn’t as hampered as your average at-creation competition. Enjoy!

Also, if you have a Leaf character and you intend to keep it, then you should use it. HINT, HINT.

Good news, everyone!

We've got new divisions! Before you get all upset and angry, just know that these are meant to be fairly loose and fluid, because I want everyone to be able and willing to do just about everything. In times of war, however, it is expected that the divisions will come together immediately under their respective commander.

The cloth of the hitai-ate from each division is different, but that is the only obvious visual difference between them. I know some of you fashionistas might have an issue with that, since it's already mentioned in your character description that your character wears a hitai-ate with pink frills and metal spikes or what have you. Just know that the cloth can be worn on its own independent of the Leaf symbol, but it should be prominent somewhere.

Here's what's posted in the Leaf info now...
Quote:
There are three main divisions in Konohagakure. Each has a specific commander, and each ultimately answers to the Hokage. The immediately recognizable difference between the three is a simple strip of cloth. Upon entering a division, each shinobi is issued a blue, red, or green cloth to represent the Omoi, Seishou, or Hada, respectively. The cloth is meant to serve as the backing for the shinobi’s Leaf hitai-ate, though some prefer to simply tie the colored cloth to a leg or arm instead. However it is displayed, each shinobi can easily identify the division and thus a general idea of the values and skill sets of others at first sight. Fortunately, the divisional information and connection to the colors worn remain unfamiliar to those outside the village.

The Leaf divisions are meant to serve as a method of organization in times of crisis. Should war be declared, each division is to report to the division commander for instructions, briefings, and any relevant messages from the Hokage. In times of peace, shinobi are encouraged to perform a wide array of duties, regardless of division.

It is expected that through changes in experience and learning in the field that goals and ideals may shift. If a shinobi deems it necessary to transfer from one division to another, he or she should simply submit the request to do so and wait for approval.

Omoi
Commander: Iga Toukon
Typical archetypes include: Genjutsu Specialist, Projectile Specialist, Archery Specialist, Tactician, Quicksilver, Maverick.
Typical assignments and professions include: Diplomat, Assassin, Espionage, Investigation.

It takes a stunning intellectual prowess to stay ahead of other shinobi. Whether it’s observing the gestures and behaviors of a dishonest criminal, discovering hidden secrets through cunning and trickery, or ensuring a stealthy and swift death for an assigned target, the members of the Omoi division ensure success through feats of planning, strategy, and subterfuge. These sly shinobi work well individually or in small groups and are capable of working in high-pressure situations without showing a hint of frustration or worry. The Omoi strike efficiently and quietly, before their prey realize what happened.

Seishou
Commander: Shimizu Tansei
Typical archetypes include: Ninjutsu Specialist, Elemental Specialist, Puppeteer, Healer, Offensive Healer, Human Battery, Virtuoso, Polymath, Cavalier.
Typical assignments and professions include: Medic, Support Fighter, Tracking, Teacher.

There are some shinobi who epitomize the strength, finesse, and power of an element. It is no easy feat to harness the remarkable natures of fire and wood, but Hi no Kuni hosts some of the most awe-inspiring specialists in the world. While some of the Seishou are capable of explosive destruction that could level a small town, others have a tendency to use chakra to aid them in other ways. Healing bones, bolstering the defenses of others, or manipulating objects with stunning efficiency all through careful application of strategy and chakra all combine to form the backbone of the Seishou as well as the village as a whole. These are shinobi who excel at using circumstances, surroundings, and timing to their advantage. Working in small groups suits this division the best, ensuring that work is done efficiently without overkill. The members of this division are champions of both offense and defense and use their cleverness and passion for the work to conquer everything in their way.

Hada
Commander: Katai Anzu
Typical archetypes include: Taijutsu Specialist, Blade Dancer, Spear Master, Kobudo Master, Beastmaster, Daredevil, Human Tank, Myrmidon.
Typical assignments and professions include: Brawler, Security, Escort, Protection.

Years and years of training, discipline, and dedication are prevalent in each member of the Hada. With or without a weapon in-hand, these individuals represent the pinnacle of fighting skill and physical feats. These individuals rely less on a silver tongue and more on the intimidating presence they naturally carry to get their point across in tense situations. The members of Hada fiercely bear the Will of Fire and put their lives on the line to protect and bolster their village. In groups, the members of this division are unpredictable and essentially unstoppable. These shinobi are loyal, honest (sometimes to a fault), and knowledgeable in the many arts of combat, strategy, and the limits of the human body. Their strength and skill are as legendary as the village itself.
Now... how the heck are you supposed to choose a division? First, ask yourself what your character's jutsu selection and stat set-up look like. If they're mental primary/genjutsu oriented, then Omoi might be a good option. If they're chakra primary/ninjutsu oriented, then Seishou might be best. If they're physical primary/taijutsu oriented, then Hada may just be the right choice.

If it still isn't clear, take a look at the typical archetypes listed for each division. While it's not mandatory that characters with those archetypes be involved in a given division, it might help to know that the many others in the division would.

Think about the character's goals. If the jutsu selection doesn't fit right now but you're aiming to have a hunter-type, you might want to select the fitting division for the character's future. It would help to surround oneself who could teach you a thing or two about what you're aiming to do as a specialty, right?

Lastly, consider your character's general state of mind. Each division has a set of values and traits that they could consider unique. If they happen to match your character's same qualities, then that might be a good option.

If all else fails, pick one just because you like it.

Anyway... I hope you all enjoy! Huzzah for organization! For now, I shall leave you to ponder the possibilities before I ask for your decisions.

Hi everybody!

It occurs to me that things need to be stirred up a bit in Leaf. I'd like to provide you all with more opportunities to meet and interact. I'd like to get to know how your characters might react in various settings or when put under particular pressures. Believe it or not, there are ways to make this happen.

Open threads!

I plan to set up more open threads and let you all have your fun. Do what your characters would do. I'll keep an eye on things to make sure nothing gets too crazy. If and when necessary, I'll reign it in. I have my ways. Mwahahahaha!

Here are some points to consider:
  • These threads may or may not be related to plots or arcs currently happening in the village.
  • These open threads won't count towards your character's active threads because it's so unlikely that the participants will reach the minimum requirements for rating. Depending on how things go, however, you may get a little something for good performance.
  • You're welcome to join in any old time. When the thread is considered "complete" it will be closed and moved away.
  • I don't anticipate on killing any characters, but I'll be honest. If the character does something excessively stupid, I will respond however is necessary.

Anyway, the first one is up and ready to go. Feel free to join in if you wish. These are meant to provide a launching point for your own threads/teams/partnerships to begin. I hope you use them to your advantage.

How should you react? Well, perhaps your character is suddenly in the middle of the situation. Maybe he or she is stepping in to help. It's even possible that he or she might ignore the problem or make it worse! Let's see what you've got. I'd love to see what your characters are capable of. Good luck! Have fun!

MORE GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!

I've been hard at work approving characters, arranging open threads, and causing various other shenanigans that you might find interesting. Or not.

Anyway, feel free to take another look over the Leaf Missions List. I've adjusted some requirements of the older missions and added some new ones, too. I'm currently looking over the list to make sure that I've got everything correctly labeled (either claimed or completed). If you have claimed or completed a mission and it's not currently correctly labeled on the list to reflect the status, please let me know. Other than that, have fun with some new missions!

In other news... rather big news, actually... a clan is opening. You may have heard of it before. It's The Hyuuga Clan. Take a look. Read carefully. Good luck.

That's all for now!

Oh snap it's been a while!

Sorry for the quiet, Engi, but life's been busy. Trust that I've still been around this whole time, but not quite able to devote the time I'd like to writing these days!

Anyway...

Happy Holidays!

Take a look at a fun little diversion I've set up for you in the mountains of Hi no Kuni. There's plenty of shenanigans to be had in a Winter Wonderland!

Have fun. Happy holidays. Go write!

MUCH MORE GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!

It’s that time again! There will be a new arc happening in Leaf soon. I’m giving you a heads up so that you’re ready to go when the time comes. I don’t have a definite timeline ready just yet, since, you know… I have two jobs and am in grad school. Stuff happens. I think I’ll be making the first steps within the next few weeks.

Seeing as I have a lack of free time, this arc will be primarily player-driven. I can give you a setting and some… err… obstacles, and then you will be the ones to take it from there. If it’s absolutely needed, I will be around to provide GM intervention. I am, of course, always available if you have questions on things. Please feel free to ask.

So here’s your warning. Things are going to be happening soon. You’ll be handling much of the activity, so you’ll have the ability to scale things up or down to suit you and your team. Yay!

We’ll start off by organizing some teams. Head on over to this thread and let me know about your teams. I’ll give you a couple of hints on this little event. You’ll need to pack a sweater and it’s going to screw with your character’s brain.

Enjoy!

What just happened?

The Missions Office is Closed

Why?

Check it out.

What does it all mean?

Don't panic. Missions are still ongoing and available. If you take a look at the link above, you'll notice that the staff of the Leaf Missions Office are under investigation for an information leak that led to the chaos known as the Arctic Arc. You may even see your character being discussed there. Neat, amirite?

Anyway, funny things happen when the Missions Office closes. You never know what kind of task you'll be assigned now, because the backup crew is in place and they don't seem to have any sort of groove or method for the madness, nor do they care.

For a limited time, all missions are available for all types of characters. You have a group of genin who want to take on a missing-nin? Have at it. You know a Cloud-nin who needs something to do? Bring 'em in. Here are the details in list form:
  • Rank restrictions are being temporarily tossed out the window.
  • You are more than welcome to have a foreign shinobi help you out on missions, provided they have the appropriate paperwork (aka village GM approval). Missing-nin are still excluded, though, because I'm a jerk.
  • As long as you have at least one Leaf-nin in your party, feel free to claim a mission.

Now, I expect that you'll still make the stories interesting. If you take on a super difficult mission with an under-qualified team, it's on you. Failures happen. Whatever the outcome, make it a good story. Also, feel free to marvel at the wacky mission your team was assigned in-character. It'll be fun.

Again, I intend for this to be a temporary thing, so don't expect it to last forever. Until I post in here again to shut it down, take advantage of the Leaf Missions Office gone wild!

Welcome back, kids. Apologies for the lack of… well… anything, here.

I hope that all is well with all of you and that you’re looking to get down and dirty with the arrpee again! I’ve been scrounging to piece together what I had been working on before I vanished into obscurity as well as assess what’s going on now. Eventually I’ll piece it all together and have a functional village once more! I appreciate your patience while I get it together.

In the short term, this means that I’m not concentrating on dealing with character promotions or bringing in new bloodline clan characters. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s just that these types of activities require a lot of individual attention. At the moment, I’m trying to make things better for everyone on a wider scale before focusing in on individuals. Keep rocking your skills until I can spare the time to delve into the details. I apologize for the inconvenience on that front.

I’m aiming to lead you all into an arc shortly. It will, in fact, have influence from beyond the walls of Konohagakure, meaning that characters from other villages will be encouraged to join in. A novel idea, is it not? I’m working on setting it up a bit differently than other activities I’ve presented you before, and it’s going to be primarily driven by your creativity and initiative as roleplayers. I’m giving you the framework and you are free to turn it into something epic. I’ll post more information as soon as I’ve got the mechanics reasonably worked out in my head.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on the Kage Summit thread, you’ll notice that Leaf has forged a rather solid alliance with Sand and Grass. That means your Leaf characters are much more likely to be able to hobnob with these other snooty people. I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know what you’re up to if you go to those other villages. I expect that you’ll work with the other applicable GMs before you bust into their villages and start and tearing the place up like a wild frat party. Play (reasonably) nicely, kids.

Mist and Rain. These villages are in need of some aid, and Leaf has promised to provide it when possible. That said, it’s up to these GMs as to whether your Leafie is welcome to participate in their shenanigans. Again, keep me up to date on what you’re up to. Sadly, I’m responsible for you. Hehe.

On the topic of Sound, Cloud, and Stone, these are villages that are not exactly on friendly terms with Leaf at the moment. I’m not saying you’re forbidden from doing stuff in these locations, just that you’d better have a darn good reason (and, as always, the applicable GMs need to be cool with it).

I think that’s all I’ve got for now. Thanks for your understanding, folks. I’m working on things, I swear!

Is your body ready?

Hey, Leafies. You have stuff to do. It's arc-ish stuff. I hope you don't hate the odd approach I took here. I'm around, so feel free to ask questions.

Next on my list is a revamp of the missions list for folks who don't want to get involved with arc things. You're welcome to still use the current one if you'd like. It will remain in place until I conjure up a new one.

Go forth. Do the things. Have fun!
