Default Special Genjutsu swaps

Character: Hige

Ninjutsu Swaps

Shuuki no Rairin – Advent of Autumn
Type: Ninjutsu; Stage: 2
With this technique, Hige causes a multitude of dried-up/dead leaves to fall from trees, littering the ground with them in a 20 metre radius about himself (in the absence of trees, the leaves actually rain directly from the sky; of course the effect is much less grandiose that way, but what else can he do, eh?)
Notes:
-The amount and volume of fallen leaves is such that someone stepping in the field would have leaves reaching up to his ankles.
-The fallen leaves are used as medium/catalyst for eventual techniques.

Keshiki – “Paysage”
Stage: 4
Keshiki is an ability which could be easily confused with eidetic memory, given that it allows the user to recall an almost unlimited number of images and sounds with extreme accuracy. Moreover, Keshiki grants the user the ability to understand and notice every environmental detail, no matter how minute it is, within seconds of having glanced at it. However, for some reason, the user seems to only be able to recall sceneries and landscapes; when it comes to details about other people and their abilities, their memory is no more exceptional than the average one. Keshiki really shines for trap users, allowing them to perfectly grasp the environment around them, thus making it easier to both avoid and lay ambushes.

Genkaku no Eisha – Projection of Illusions
Stage: 5
Requirements: Sealing tags (Scrolls can be used as well, but obviously have less practical applications)
The methods of infliction of Genjutsu attacks are numerous and vary a lot: some require eye contact, some simply directly affect the brain of the opponent, some require physical contact, and some might affect the other senses. Yet, in most cases, it requires the Genjutsu user to be able to see and thus target the enemy, which in some circumstances (e.g. when being chased) can prove to be impossible. This is where Genkaku no Eisha comes into play – by drawing his blood and using it to write on a sealing tag/scroll, the Genjutsu specialist can literally ‘store’ the effects of the illusion into the piece of paper. The utility of those tags is immense and can prove to be invaluable if used well. Once laid, the tag acts as a trap which is triggered when a hostile action is taken against it. The other ways the seal is unleashed will depend on the original method of infliction of the Genjutsu:
-If a genjutsu requiring direct physical contact is ‘stored’ in the seal, the jutsu will take effect if the enemy touches the tag.
-In the case of a genjutsu requiring eye contact, the jutsu will take effect as soon as the enemy reads the characters on the tag.
-For those genjutsu affecting directly the brain/other senses, the jutsu will take effect as soon as the opponent steps into the perimeter of the sealing tag (3 metres radius)
However, due to the simple fact that the jutsu is simply sealed into a tag and thus scarcely powered by the user’s chakra, the duration for all the illusions is brought down to 1 post. It is also impossible to use binding jutsus in conjunction with Genkaku no Eisha. Only one jutsu can be ‘sealed’ into a tag at any time.
Note: Thus, the techniques which can be sealed into the tag include all the known Genjutsu of the user (Jutsu lists), save of course, binding ones.

Genjutsu Swaps

Choushokuban – Palette
Stage: 2
This genjutsu affects the nervous system in such a way that it allows the user to give the illusion that something is of a different colour than it actually is to the human eye. Inverting colours, completely changing them, even turning scenery into black and white is all possible thanks to this simple illusion which is triggered as soon as the victim sets his eye on the object whose colour is being altered.
Minimum duration: 2, Base duration: 3, Maximum duration: 5

“Inshoushugi” – “Impressionism”
Type: Genjutsu; Stage: 3
After Hige completes the necessary handseals to initiate the technique – which is then instantly triggered by anyone in contact with the dried up leaves at that precise moment – the illusion finally takes effect. The targets (those in contact with the leaves at the moment the technique is performed) will have their sight disrupted in such a manner that details they would normally have noticed become inconspicuous to them – in other words, it becomes harder, if not impossible, for them to make out details such as small objects (size of kunai or smaller).
Durations:1, 3, 5

Senrigan – Clairvoyance
Stage: 4
“Any self-respecting master of deception cannot allow himself to be deceived through his own illusions.” Such is the basis of Senrigan, a unique ability only inherent to those well trained in Genjutsu – in other words, it allows those gifted with Clairvoyance to instantly recognize when they are under the effect of a Genjutsu as long as they have an active illusion in use themselves. The concept behind the technique is that it is possible for an illusion master to realise when another illusion is used, simply due to the disturbance in his own art. This in no way gives the user Genjutsu immunity – the Senrigan user still has to deal with the illusion and try to counter it by his own means. Clairvoyance is also that ability which makes it possible for the Genjutsu master to know exactly when and where someone is affected by one of his illusions; this of course, includes those sealed with Genkaku no Eisha.

Default 'Gastronomic' swaps (Well, kind of)

Character: Kato

The Beast Within
Stage: 3
Through this ability, the user is able to enhance his olfactory and gustatory senses slightly, enough to enable him to easily pick up scents and tastes which would normally pass unnoticed to the normal person. Although it is impossible to pick up scents of anything outside an area of 10-metre radius, the skill can prove quite practical at times. The sense of taste is enhanced in such a way that the user can, for instance, determine quite accurately of what ingredients a meal is made of.
Note: The effect lasts for 5 posts.

Jaws of Death
Stage: 3
By concentrating chakra into his teeth, the user is able to harden them to such an extent that it could at least put a dent in the toughest metal should he bite though it. Materials like wood obviously would be easily torn apart by the toughened ‘fangs’ of the user.

Digestive Acid
Stage: 5
This technique enables the user to dramatically increase the acidity of his saliva, making it a very potent substance. The effects depend on the amount of saliva spat out on the target and can range from mere skin irritation to severe corrosive skin burns. While extremely dangerous, this technique can hardly be lethal simply due to the limited amount of ‘acid’ which can be created.
Note: For obvious reasons, this technique is a unique one which can only be performed by those who aren’t harmed by the effects of their own jutsu. In this case, it is only made possible by the abnormally resilient nature of the organs making up the digestive system of the user (his mouth, oesophagus, stomach, etc are unharmed by the acid).

Default The Curse of Flesh

For Kato, my 12 character. Registered this in 'seal form' because I thought the sickness/curse/condition, whatever would be more easily represented in this format.

Ikimi no Bachi - The Curse of Flesh

This is how Kato refers to the strange condition he is afflicted with, claiming this 'sickness' is a product of the gods' retribution for his sin of gluttony. Yet, a more plausible explanation would be that Kato became so dependent on flesh - mostly human - over the years, that the slightest deficiency causes his metabolism to react abnormally. On the other hand, when he does get his fill of his most prized food, Kato finds benefits which exceed those of normal people.

Stage One
Requirements: Willpower 5, Intelligence 3
At this stage of the condition, the user needs to feed on human flesh at least once every twelve posts (from the start of the thread). If he fails to do so, he progressively loses the use of his senses - one at a time per post - until he feeds again. The lost senses are not recovered until the end of the thread. The loss of senses occurs in this particular order: hearing, sight, taste, smell, touch.

-Hitokui I (Cannibalism I):
Every time the user feeds on human flesh, he regains lost stamina, allowing him to be in perfect physical condition and go on without tiring. (Same effect as a soldier pill)

Special Techniques:
-3 Open Slots

Stage Two
Requirements: Willpower 11, Intelligence 9, Power 8
At this stage of the condition, the user needs to feed on human flesh at least once every nine posts (from the start of the thread). If he fails to do so, he progressively loses the use of his senses - one at a time per post - until he feeds again. The lost senses are not recovered until the end of the thread. The loss of senses occurs in this particular order: hearing, sight, taste, smell, touch.

-Hitokui II (Cannibalism II):
Every time the user feeds on human flesh, in addition to the effects of Cannibalism I, he can assimilate it into chakra and use it to instantly heal minor wounds - minor cuts, scratches, etc.

Special Techniques:
-Osagari (Inferior food): The user can substitute human flesh for any other meat to avoid the side effects but only receives the benefits from Cannibalism I.

-Chishio no Yokubou (Bloodlust)
Wounded and bleeding preys are sometimes the most enjoyable to hunt; their vulnerability gives a feeling of superiority to the predator tracking them. This feeling, coupled with Kato's insatiable lust for flesh and blood of his victims causes him to be relentless in his hunt whenever he smells blood. In other words, Bloodlust allows Kato to track any scent of blood within a 1 mile radius.

-1 Open Slot

Stage Three
Requirements: Willpower 20, Intelligence 18, Tactics 18, Power 16
At this stage of the condition, the user needs to feed on human flesh at least once every six posts (from the start of the thread). If he fails to do so, he progressively loses the use of his senses - one at a time per post - until he feeds again. The lost senses are not recovered until the end of the thread. The loss of senses occurs in this particular order: hearing, sight, taste, smell, touch.

-Hitokui III (Cannibalism III):
Every time the user feeds on human flesh, in addition to the effects of Cannibalism II, he can assimilate it into chakra and use it to instantly heal serious wounds - deep cuts, etc. Broken bones are mended within 1 post; non-lethal poisons are cleansed within 1 post.

Special Techniques:

-Osagari (Inferior food): The user can substitute human flesh for any other meat to avoid the side effects but only receives the benefits from Cannibalism II.

-Chishio no Meiyaku (Blood Pact): With this technique, each time he drinks blood (animal or human) Kato is able to 'postpone' the side effects (loss of senses) by a 1 post for every 10 Willpower he possesses.

-1 Open Slot

Stage Four
Requirements: Willpower 33, Intelligence 33, Tactics 33, Power 22, Control 22
At this stage of the condition, the user needs to feed on human flesh at least once every three posts (from the start of the thread). If he fails to do so, he progressively loses the use of his senses - one at a time per post - until he feeds again. The lost senses are not recovered until the end of the thread. The loss of senses occurs in this particular order: hearing, sight, taste, smell, touch.

-Hitokui IV (Cannibalism IV):
Every time the user feeds on human flesh, in addition to the effects of Cannibalism III, lethal injuries can be healed and lethal poisons neutralized.
Notes:
-Insta-kill attacks will obviously just kill the user.
-Mutilation cannot be repaired through Cannibalism. i.e. a severed limb will not grow back.

Special Techniques:
-Osagari (Inferior food): The user can substitute human flesh for any other meat to avoid the side effects but only receives the benefits from Cannibalism III.

-2 Open Slots

-----------

Notes:
-Only first Stage costs 1 jutsu. Advancing to the next stage costs 2 jutsu.
-The condition takes 1 list.
-Only related (thematic) techniques can be swapped into the open slots.

Default Slav's Swap Thread

Character: Chijin

Regular/Special Techniques for Kaiki: FuuRinKaZan

Regular Techniques:

Fuu: Swift as the Wind
Stage: 2
For an accomplished swordsman, especially a practitioner of Kaiki – where feints and deceptions are essential – it can be invaluable to possess a fast drawing speed. That way, it becomes almost impossible for the opponent to predict exactly when the user will reach for his weapon and unsheathe it. In addition, such a fast movement is extremely practical for those shinobi who combine swordplay and ninjutsu/genjutsu, allowing them to literally alternate between the two in an instant without losing precious fractions of seconds.

Ka: Fierce as Fire
Stage: 4
A basic fighting concept for long sword users is that, when they slash something, they usually slice downwards, using the weapon’s weight, in order to reach optimal force in the strike. Because if this, such type of motion is generally easy to anticipate by seasoned fighters, rendering the main offensive asset of the swordsman practically useless. However, those mastering Ka are actually able to nullify this shortcoming in their swordplay. Basically, they are able to literally change the direction of their attacks midway through it, both after the opponent has seen through it and after the sword of the speed has increased, thus drastically reducing the possibility of them being predicted.

Zan: Immovable as a Mountain
Stage: 5
Zan, unlike the other abilities, is actually a stance one which basically grants the swordsman an almost perfect defence to all sorts of close range physical attacks. While he is in this stance, the swordsman is able to parry any strike directed at him without flinching. But to this seemingly invincible technique, there is obviously a drawback – to be able to sustain attacks continuously, the user is forced to stand in the same spot while being unable to attempt any riposte. In other words, when using Zan, a swordsman forsakes all his offensive power for a purely defensive one. Also, because it is so dependent on a swordsman’s actual strength to withstand repeated and massive blows, the technique can only be used for a limited number of times when the opponent overpowers the user. [Zan can only be used twice if the opponent’s strength is higher than the user’s]

Special Techniques:

Rin: Silent as a Forest
Stage: 5
Through meditation, certain swordsmen have been able to attain Rin – a state akin to one of nothingness – whereby the sounds they make are extremely hard to hear unless close attention is paid (footsteps are so light they can hardly be heard, breathing and heartbeat almost impossible to detect) and any emotion they feel at that instant are masked. Thus, such things like killing intent, panic, fear, excitement may not be felt by an opponent. Basically, Rin completely suppresses the ‘presence’ of the user, making him undetectable by methods such as chakra sensing fields. Rin, in fact, only serves to ‘even the playfield’ by forcing opponents to only rely on the good old traditional method of detection: eyesight.

--------------

Mist Ninjutsu Swaps:

Dorongo no Sousei (Morass Creation)
Stage: 3
After making seals, the user channels chakra into the ground with his sword (using one’s hands works as well) to create water in the soil and thus soften it into mud. Once the technique has been initiated, the area covered by the morass will quickly expand - maximum surface area is a circle of 20 metres radius about the user. While this created mud may obviously hinder the less surefooted shinobi due to its slippery nature, its main purpose is to provide a medium for other potential mud based techniques.

Doro Yusou no Jutsu (Mud Transportation Technique)
Stage: 2
A mix between the Water Puddle Transportation technique and Military Earth Movement, the Mud Transportation technique basically allows the user to sink into muddy ground and re-emerge from another muddy patch within an instant. The maximum distance for which such a transport is possible is however limited to 5 metres.
Note: The technique however doesn’t allow the user to remain concealed underground like in the case of the Military Earth Movement.

Suiton: Ekitaiki (Water Element: Liquid Atmosphere)
Stage: 4
After performing the series of seals required to initiate the jutsu, the user traces a semi-circle in front of him with his sword (making it an arc with approximate radius of 2 metres). Almost instantaneously, the volume enclosed within that half circle will be filled with a thin mist – which however doesn’t hinder visibility like it is in the case with Kirigakure no Jutsu. This thin mist is in fact what users of this technique call the ‘Liquid Atmosphere’. Why? Simply because, anyone or anything located within this mist would feel as if he was in water, while amazingly still being able to breathe normally. The uses of this jutsu are, of course, numerous. Since it is obviously more difficult to move in a liquid medium than in air, it can be a severe hindrance to close combat. Projectiles aimed at the user will decelerate while travelling through this liquid atmosphere, potentially slowing down enough for them to be dealt with appropriately, or in the case they hit not cause lethal wounds. Most ninjutsu will also experience such deceleration, although other effects (power, intensity) will remain unchanged. Exceptions are:
-Sound based techniques, which will actually travel faster through this mist screen towards the user – almost guaranteeing a hit.
-Low level fire based techniques. The liquid atmosphere can effectively disintegrate such Katons (only up to stage 3).
It also has to be pointed out that the liquid atmosphere applies as much to the user as to enemies, meaning that all outbound attacks from the user himself will experience the exact same effects.

Genjutsu Swaps

Hasai (Shatter)
Stage: 2
While the preparation for this technique starts with simple handseals, it is only triggered by the sound made when the user's sword clashes with a solid object, meaning that anyone hearing it will be put under the spell. Basically, this Genjutsu creates the illusion that any solid object which is hit by the user's sword is shattered into pieces. This includes rocks, walls, trees, but also opponents' weaponry or armour. The aim is of course to intimidate enemies and to create the false impression that their weapons are worthless when confronted with the seemingly extraordinary strength of the user.
Minimum Duration: 1, Base Duration: 3, Maximum Duration: 5

Default Katon Techniques

Character: Seijirou

Katon: Suzaku (Fire Element: Suzaku)
Stage: 4
- The principle behind Suzaku is very simple. Just like the phoenix being reborn from its ashes, any dying or extinguished fire originally created by Seijirou can be rekindled into a burning flame taking the form of the mythical bird. The latter then flies straight towards the target, leaving a trail of fire in its wake, making it appear like a stream of flames.
Notes:
- The bird has a wingspan of four metres, and the heat is of an intensity comparable to Goukakyuu no Jutsu.
- Flames which have been extinguished for more than 5 posts cannot be revived.

Katon: Kaen Saikou no Jutsu (Fire Element: Flame Revival technique)
Stage: 5
- Flame revival is a technique which obviously has to be used immediately following an original Katon; it actually requires the target to be within five metres of flames left behind by one of Seijirou’s fire jutsu.
Forming handseals, Seijirou first create a smoke-like barrier around his target and the flames. Because the limited amount of oxygen within this prison is eventually used up by the combustion, the flames will gradually die – while still leaving embers behind. This is where the technique really starts. The smoke barrier is intentionally made weak (can be pierced by any hit) so that whenever it is breached, oxygen from outside will rush in, cause a backdraft and revive the embers into an explosive flame.
