”EAT SHIT AND DIE, ASSHOLE!”

The hunter must have had a plan; he couldn't just be charging head first into the Shinshi's territory and performing the same attack as before, right? But all that Gemmei saw indicated just that- the clones, the single-minded rush forward, even the wires! Well! Let him come, then!

It wasn't hard to pick her attacker out from the clones, given only one of the approaching bodies seemed intent on attacking with the razors. Steeling her resolve she whipped her arm out to intercept the man's attack. The thin metal wires cut into her exposed, burned flesh like a band saw. She screamed even louder, but twisted her arm to ensure the wires dug in even deeper and stuck fast. Those damn strings wouldn't be getting away from her now.

A barrage of punches came from all sides from the vine clones. Gemmei might not be fast, but she was sturdy, and their weak blows only served to enrage her further, the earth cracking under her feet as she anchored herself. Equations and calculations flashed through her brain as the Hen'Iki worked its magic. This shinobi wasn't in one of her domains, but the Shinshi even had ways to manipulating those who didn't fall into their territories. The golden glow of her territory expanded rapidly down the wire even as it cut into her muscle, rapidly robbing it of its weight. When it reached the man she would have his mass as well! There were more than enough bodies here to crush him with, and the second her territory reached him, she could dump several hundred pounds worth of gravity on his frail little shoulders!

Hearing the fierce scream of the desperate woman was enough to warn Ton of her upcoming attack before it could be seen, but he had anticipated it. His wires were firmly cut into her arms, meaning she couldn't run. She could try sending him flying like the others, but the wires would either keep him from going far or drag her with him. The attack could be one just to injure him, but he had barely even been touched and was confident in his ability to endure it. Even as the woman's emanating glow raced down the wires towards Ton, he stood unfazed. Surely he had accounted for everything, right?

Wrong.

The absolute force of the attack struck him like a truck, instantly bringing him to his knees with a shout of both pain and surprise. It felt as though the weight of the world had increased tenfold and took all the strength he had to keep himself from collapsing onto the ground. Even merely holding onto his razor wires was immensely difficult in this state, so he couldn't risk moving his palms from the ground. There wasn't much left in his arsenal that could be done without the use of hands; most jutsu required at least one handseal. His clones hadn't been destroyed yet, but they didn't seem to be helping very much. All he had to do was prevent her from escaping. Although he too was in pain now, Ton was still confident he could win in a war of attrition.

With a grunt of pain, he raised his head to stare the dangerous woman directly in her rage-filled eyes. Ton opened his mouth and spat at the woman, but not out of spite. Instead of saliva flying out as one might expect, two tiny green balls were launched directly towards her face, each one growing into what looked like spikey grapefruits as they soared.

Seconds, just seconds, that's all it would take! He was experiencing forces equivalent to several times that of gravity. Most untrained targets passed out after about half a minute, trained shinobi usually took three times as long. She flung her head from side to side and flung blood and spit from her face. ”Dumbass! Duuuuuumbass!” A cough tore out of her throat, along with a healthy dose of other nasty body fluids. ”Is it worth it, HUH?! IS ANY OF THIS WORTH IT?” Stitches all along her legs blew open like tissue paper while the bunshin continued to assault her. Their attacks were pathetic, but focused right atop her existing wounds. Each tap against her straining muscles dug deeper and deeper.

Her illusion might give her the appearance of a juggernaut, but the reality was that Gemmei was just a furious little girl surrounded by evidence of an impending demise. Too bad she couldn't have tricked herself.

There was no way she was getting out now and she could see that. Trying to kill this hunter wouldn't solve anything- if anything it would make her already damning list of deeds even worse. Did one more sin matter? Her hearing disappeared beneath the sound of her own blood pounding through her ears. Or was that the bunshin hammering her skull? Dark, it was so dark. The only thing she could feel was the chakra burning through her fingers, her shredded flesh serving as the conduit to funnel the force of gravity into the nameless target Gemmei so despised.

It was all so pointless.

Hands wrapped up in wire and clones hanging off her like leeches Gemmei couldn't defend herself, and both spiked balls slammed into her face. One tore right into her wide open eye. Something came loose. It wasn't clear what. Her anchor to the earth? Her sanity? The skin on her tattooed arm being sliced and diced like fresh produce? Whatever it was, it was all it took. Foaming at the mouth she sputtered out something unintelligible before her body gave out. The golden glow of the Hen'Iki faded and the relentless night came rushing back around her. Her eyes were still open, her lips still twitching with rage. But the consciousness was gone. This was how Shinshi Gemmei blacked out.

When she finally collapsed, the weight on Ton's shoulders finally let up. Though he knew it was his usual weight, he couldn't help but feel like he was much lighter than before this had started. The once terrifying woman now lay unconscious on the ground in front of him, a mangled mess of burns, bruises, and bandages. Her terrifying guise had been nothing more than that: an illusion. The thugs that had been around them before had now all either scattered or been taken down. As Ton got up and approached the Shinshi woman, he couldn't help but feel sorry her.

It was a messy business, especially with his particular style of combat, but it all could've been avoided if she had cooperated from the start. After releasing her from his wires and restraining her in his handcuffs, Ton applied patchwork bandages to places actively bleeding; he was no medic but simple first aid wasn't overly complicated. While he wouldn't necessarily be in trouble if she died, things always went smoother when targets were captured alive. She still needed to be interrogated to discover what she did, after all.

"I trust you're capable of handling these guys, Hiroshi?" The man had been obviously terrified from the battle, and Ton was honestly surprised he managed to even take them down at all.

"It's taken care of. I was about to jump in and save you, being brought to your knees by a scrawny girl and all." With a sigh, Ton and his clones delicately but securely loaded the unconscious woman onto their shoulders and marched out of the area. A few heads were tucked out their windows, watching the commotion as it happened, but they went back to sleep once they realized everything was over.

Upon arrival at Kaku's police station, the woman was placed under secure watch while a pair of KSHD medics tended her wounds. In the morning, she would be escorted to the Grass Prison, where she would remain until her fate was decided. The forms and paperwork officers needed to fill out after completing a mission were never fun, but at least it would be calmer than the rest of Ton's day had been. After grabbing the forms, he headed back out into the night, towards his final destination for the day.

The house in front of Ton was a familiar one. The short wooden building had mahogany walls, with brick red tiles lining its rooftop. A pair of rosebushes sat under the window, where inside a faint light could be seen, evidence that someone was still awake. As he approached the door, the smell of cooked fish grew stronger and stronger. With a quick rat-a-tat-tat on the door, he waited. It wasn't long before it opened, a stocky man with light-gray hair and plaid blue pajamas standing behind it, his ovoid glasses low on his nose.

"Hey, Dad." The man smiled back at the young shinobi on his doorstep.

"Welcome home."
